Skin lesions and ulcus cruris: |

Many patients suffering from diabetes are familiar with this condition. Ulcus cruris is defined as an ulcer resulting
from insufficient venous blood supply of the lower legs. The collapse of venous vascularisation in combination with
increasing capillary pressure can lead to edema, exzema, pigmentation disorders and swellings even to fibrosis of the
skin tissue. Often conventional treatments do not succeed to cure the limb involved. Consequently, in some cases patients
are facing serious consequences and even risk ampution.
Latest scientific research findings, presented on the 2006 annual congress of the
ISMST (International Society for Musculo-skeletal Shockwave Therapy)
in Rio de Janeiro showed significant success rates for this indication after application of electro-hydraulic shock waves. |
